BLARE’s 5 BEST NEW ARTISTS (NOVEMBER 2012)

NAOMI PUNK

NOTES: By way of Seattle and Olympia, the threesome are throwing the hue to grunge music against a wall until it produces an unpredictable splatter of underground-heavy garage punk. Rather than strum out cheap hits with no filler, Naomi Punk design rhythmic bruisers – songs that neglect speed to unwrap a tempo or jarring guitar line you can dive face-first into. The lyric sheets aren’t quite ready to be revelled but when they steer pieces like “The Spell”, “Voodoo Trust” and “The Buzz”, they scrape out half-speed climaxes that are poised to never leave your head.
