Frontman Meric Long noted Women’s Christopher Reimer was a major influence on THE DODOS’ new full-length, Carrier, and its first single “Confidence” goes on to prove that. The near five-minute number from the San Francisco duo starts with warm and minimalist acoustics, and by the 60-second mark, it swells to become a different kind of creature. It’s a nod to Public Strain and a lot of bands that ripped through 2012, but Dodos do “new” the right way.
