Whether it was the free Reeboks, the BYOB option, the trippy visuals, or the overall good vibes, the WAYHOME MUSIC & ARTS FESTIVAL actually felt like home. The event made its debut this past weekend with thousands of people making the trip to Oro-Medonte, Ontario, and due to the professionalism behind it, it rarely showed any blind spots or let downs. If it did, they were definitely overshadowed by WayHome’s superlative mix of artists, activities, and eclectic culture – which at times felt like an expansive, new-gen mashup of Bonnaroo and Sasquatch. We will be discussing more in our upcoming “Best & Worst” feature, but in terms of acts, there was a helping of surprises and home runs with MODEST MOUSE, ST. VINCENT, ALT-J, HOZIER, COLD WAR KIDS, ALVVAYS, DEAR ROUGE, and TEEN VIOLENCE. Check out some of our photos above (via Josh Mahoney).
