Once a year, the TORONTO URBAN ROOTS FEST — aka TURF — takes over the Fort York: Garrison Common for a three-day jaunt that celebrates genres such as indie, folk, country, and alternative. This past weekend (September 16th-18th) followed suit as the festival’s timely ode to fall included sets from DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE, JIMMY EAT WORLD, LUSH, MARGO PRICE, OKKERVIL RIVER, THE HOLD STEADY, and 2016 MVPs MODERN BASEBALL and JULIEN BAKER (see above).
