Considering we crushed beers with The Black Lips and popped off with A$AP Rocky last year, it was hard to believe that Saturday’s lineup would simply be casual. In fact, the second day of Osheaga leaned on alternative collages, and dare we say it, flower power. But even Nylon junkies couldn’t keep hoards of attendees from search and destroying their afternoons with more up-tempo discoveries. As STARS and IMAGINE DRAGONS provided rhythms to sway to, we changed routes on the fly to also see YELAWOLF and FLOGGING MOLLY stomp heads in their own way.
BECK’s headlining slot at Osheaga encapsulated the experience of curling up to nine of his records (including ’94’s Mellow Gold and ’96’s Odelay), but FRANK TURNER’s mark on Montreal was permanent. The Englishman strapped on a six-string and played a perfect ten-song set, giving lessons on new ways to turn your entire heart inside out.
