Going Live: Eagles Of Death Metal (NXNE 2010)

Who: Eagles Of Death Metal
Where: Phoenix Concert Theatre, Toronto
When: June 16 2010

Rock n’ roll isn’t angelic. Its an ageless monster that makes a guitar look symbolic and has the ability to bellow lines of earnest poetry that makes Shakespeare look like an amateur writer for Hallmark. Unlike most Nickleback-types who don’t deserve fame, the Eagles Of Death Metal understand what rock n’ roll is.

Just ask the people of Toronto who endured North By Northeast’s opening night of music. They had their eyes on frontman Jesse Hughes and the rest of the group as he did everything from comb his moustache to invite female audience members onto the stage. The tunes were good too. Just ask the special NXNE damsel who left her bra on the band’s drum kit.
