WHO: Bruno Mars
WHERE: Kool Haus, Toronto
WHEN: November 13 2010
One’s first visit to Toronto is always a bit more enjoyable when greeted by a sold out crowd at the Kool Haus. The Lakeshore venue was packed for Kiss 92.5’s Haus Party but mainly for the attractive headliner: singer-songwriter Bruno Mars. After the MTV-ish audience squealed to the sounds of radio hits along with other mainstream R&B/pop performers, the 25-year-old Hawaiian crooner hit the stage serenading with originals (“Billionaire”, “Just The Way You Are”) and hybrid covers blending anthems from Nirvana, Michael Jackson and The White Stripes. The bipolarity of the song choices were analogous with the lack of homogeneity displayed in the crowd but with sweet tones being left on the tongues of listeners, it’s clear Mars is bound to return.
