PROFILE: Bleached (CMJ 2011)

Discovering a new band can be potent. It’s like bumping into a new obsession, one you’ll find comfort in, share the most complex emotions with and hopelessly fall in love with, realizing the simple connection made is so much more.

Known more for a stint in Mika Miko and touring with synth-poppers Cold Cave, Jennifer and Jessica Clavin have now instilled life into a project called BLEACHED. Like any indie kid would speculate, the band are caught in that wind of classic girl group pop meets modern day party gal heartache but unlike others who can pull off flip flops and a guitar, the sisters do it with a 70s’ rock flavor. The taste sounds overdone, but its originality has made indie favs The Black Lips and Best Coast fall for their ripping guitars and lush vocal work that are at times simply irresistible.

“THE CLAVIN SISTERS RAMP UP
THE VINTAGE GIRL GROUP VOCALS”
“THE KIND OF SUNDAZED LAZINESS THAT SHOULD BE PLAYING IN THE MIND OF CHERIE CURRIE WHEN SHE’S WHIPPING UP ONE OF HER CREATIONS”
“BOUNCY, SUNNY, SUMMER POP/PUNK JAMS”
