PROFILE: Beast Make Bomb (CMJ 2011)

Discovering a new band can be potent. It’s like bumping into a new obsession, one you’ll find comfort in, share the most complex emotions with and hopelessly fall in love with, realizing the simple connection made is so much more.

An overlooked act at previous festivals (which is a shame), BEAST MAKE BOMB are a four-piece with too many influences, backgrounds and hometowns (Ohio, Texas, Florida and NY) that it charmingly fits their musicTouring alongside fellow British Columbian Daniel Wesley, Good stopped by Centennial Hall in London and even with a set list packed with the lush . Their tunes, that fall somewhere in the haze between Sonic Youth, Blink-182 and Metric, have a bite to it and aren’t afraid to throw in a little hug as Ceci Gomez’s vocals dance along sharp guitars and dreamy bass. Getting slapped in the face and then comforted is a weird feeling, but for some reason, this group make it feel oh so right.

“THEIR EXHILARATION IS CHARMING, EVEN CUTE”
“A LITTLE SOUR AND A LITTLE SWEET,
WITH A WHOLE LOT OF ATTITUDE”
