BLARE’s Top 40 Songs Of 2011 (You Need To Know)

When you dissect 2011, one arguable statement rears its head at you – music videos are the new radio. Whereas albums have the power to present to you your favourite new band, there have been viral underground stars (ASAP Rocky, Danny Brown), pop legends (Coldplay, Rihanna) and fan favourites (Fleet Foxes, Lykke Li) who have used the Internet stage to help shape their material. Drawing from that medium along with EPs, mixtapes and the conclusions of albums, below are 40 tracks from 2011 that aren’t genre bias and don’t display any “hipster-like major label hate” – they’re simply songs we think are worth spinning on repeat (maybe once, twice, or all night long).
