GOING LIVE: Band Of Skulls

BAND OF SKULLS, WE ARE AUGUSTINES
PHOENIX CONCERT THEATRE, TORONTO / MAR. 30TH

Everybody knows, there are few bands out there that can rock like BAND OF SKULLS. Cut from the loin cloth of Led Zeppelin and the backbone of British alternative, the English trio shed off their style of rock n’ roll on the Phoenix Concert Theatre’s stage as if they owned the place. Swerving through riff-laced numbers like “Lies”, “Sweet Sour” and the always grooving “I Know What I Am”, the band – along with their Brooklyn indie rock bill-mates WE ARE AUGUSTINES – cruised about at a seductive pace, like as if Pamela Des Barres was providing a deep biography of her life while Are You Experienced? and Fresh Cream soundtracked the moment. The major highlight was “Devil Takes Care Of His Own”, that subtly shifted in as an encore and proved mightily, rock is still irresistible.
