GOING LIVE: The Drums

THE DRUMS
PHOENIX CONCERT THEATRE, TORONTO / APR. 27TH

In a universe where bands copy bands that copy bands, Manhattan indie rockers THE DRUMS have found a formula – more of a sound and cathartic live performance – that sticks. And when we mean stick, it latches on to your conscious and subconscious until singing songs like “Days” and “What You Were” out loud to yourself becomes  daily routine. After shaking The Mod Club last year, the quintet revisited Toronto with a set at the Phoenix Concert Theatre that was equally riveting and brain-numbing with their indie pop vibe bursting at the seams. Girls wanted to be with them, guys reluctantly scoffed at the idea they wanted to be them and the rest of the on-lookers simply soaked up the glaring, sun-spattered reverb while it lasted throughout the Friday night gig.
