GOING LIVE: Gallows

GALLOWS
LEE’S PALACE, TORONTO / NOVEMBER 8TH

In front of a crowd that was infatuated by the idea of sweat and a little bit of blood, GALLOWS’ headlining gig turned Lee’s Palace into a cathartic wilderness for head-gnawing punk rock. And for a school night, it didn’t lack intensity as ripping through numbers such as “Vapid Adolescent Blues” and “In The Belly Of A Shark” was enough to wear out old kicks and send bodies flying. Much of the night belonged to the quintet’s chemistry and Wade MacNeil whose feverish stage presence ripped open a gaping hole in everyone that thought “metal” was an old man’s term.
