CALIFORNIA X may have crawled out of some American wasteland full of Dinosaur Jr. demos and Jesus Lizard rarities but the Amherst, MA trio’s sound is its rail-carving monster. “Pond Rot”, a new single off of their upcoming full-length exhales a few slimed-out garage riffs but fully embraces the idea of how production can make thick layers of gutted rock sound authentic.
