From afar, MAC DEMARCO does look like any other drifter from the depths of San Francisco but the 22-year-old is a true Canuck who just so happens to rip on a guitar like a bluesy Jerry Garcia. His mid-December set at the Silver Dollar Room was evident of that as the established author of Rock And Roll Nightclub churned out a massive amount of chord freak outs that stressed how “unhinged” his performances can be. The night wasn’t a Polaroid of perfection but the helping of memories sure as hell convinced one onlooker to admit, “Mac DeMarco is my only guilty pleasure”.
