Going Live: Tame Impala

In support of their incredible sophomore record, TAME IMPALA unloaded their gear at the Kool Haus in Toronto and plugged into a refreshing 14-track set that no one saw coming. The outfit from Perth, Australia, have been up north a few times but Kevin Parker and the others sunk into a deep wave of psych bliss, making every instrumental shift swell with euphoria and puncture with maturation. The band were tighter than ever really and it was even more so noticeable over shrieks and screams as numbers like “Mind Mischief”, “Apocalypse Dreams” and “Alter Ego” fell in sync with their backdrop and dripped with the type of bravado you’d expect at the Palais des Sports in 1967.
