Going Live: Chelsea Light Moving

After linking up with Samara Lubelski, John Moloney and Keith Wood, and playing a few sporadic shows, Thurston Moore laid his previous aspirations to rest and kicked out his new calling, CHELSEA LIGHT MOVING. The outfit then dropped a full-length on Matador Records back in March and as their debut at Lee’s Palace verified, they can turn any hospitable setting into a noise factory. Moore and his supporting cast ruined the peaceful mood on Sunday and didn’t sugar coat anything; guitars cut like chainsaws, grooves stung with pleasure, and even when harmonies seemed calculated, the foursome did a pretty good job of putting everyone into a noise rock-induced coma.
