Going Live: Orion Music + More (Day One)

In more ways than one, ORION MUSIC + MORE is like Disneyland for music junkies. Metallica’s inaugural festival has become a breeding ground for unusual lineups, sticking metal, punk, EDM and other rag tag genres into the old kitchen sink until they overflow to infect anyone that thinks PBR is indeed the Holy Grail. Detroit, MI became the perfect establishment for #OrionFest this year, and despite the horrendous shuttle lineups, Belle Isle is a cool spot.

Its surprising intimacy scraped at the thousands in attendance which was enough to let acts like THE ORWELLS, DEATH GRIPS, FLAG and SILVERSUN PICKUPS leave metalheads in pieces. The RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS manhandled the task of closing Saturday night and their face-peeling charisma (plus “Suck My Kiss”) proved to be the only thing anyone needed. That is, if you missed Metallica’s secret set as Dehaan. Check out our photos below.
