Going Live: Grove Music Festival

This past weekend saw the introduction of the GROVE MUSIC FESTIVAL, another Toronto day jaunt in the vein of Riot Fest, ALL CAPS! and Field Trip. It’s just this one-day hitter was the scene-less little brother who just wanted to cause a ruckus at the Fort York grounds. The festival stamped its own trademark, taking a sunny weekend up north and giving it a healthy dose of L.A. must-sees (WAVVES, EARL SWEATSHIRT), heavy-hitting rock n’ rollers (PALMA VIOLETS, GASLIGHT ANTHEM), and indie luminaries that dig fuzzy keyboards (HOT CHIP, PHOENIX).

Grove would have knocked more heads if they didn’t face cancellations but they lined up various genres on one bill and went in. Between Nathan Williams’ dedication to Kings Of Leon, Earl being a lyrical marvel, and Brian Fallon unraveling his heart, the festival’s buzz exploded with character. With Round 2 in sight, check out our photos below.
