The 2013 BET HIP-HOP AWARDS took place tonight (October 15th) and as expected, the network delivered again (and again) with a handful of cyphers and live sets. While the latter were pretty solid, the freestyles knocked teeth out with some experimental jabs from the likes of Action Bronson, Travi$ Scott, Slaughterhouse, A$AP Mob, and even Lil Kim who popped shots of her own (“Kimmy got them sweatin’ like they Trinidad”). Kendrick Lamar and the rest of TDE (Schoolboy Q, Jay Rock, Ab-Soul, Isaiah Rashad) were the clear “Highlight Of The Night” and to be honest, that’s excluding the shout out to Drake. I mess with Ab souls verse the most. I also realized that Kendrick is on top because he kills every opportunity he gets. He goes in on verses harder than any other rapper. He puts more effort and sweat.
