Earlier this week (May 7th), Missouri folk rocker ANGEL OLSEN visited Toronto’s Lee’s Palace in support of a new record for Jagjaguwar and undoubtedly left another audience speechless and mesmerized. It can be quite difficult to dissect the feelings she stirs up – especially with a full band thumbing through both Halfway Home and this year’s Burn Your Fire For No Witness – but they always find a way to tussle with your insides. If you’re not looking back on heartbreak, you’re soaking up her captivating accent. And if you’re not swayed by her vulnerability, you’re at least quivering on your own in some way. Words barely do Olsen justice when it comes to what she does in-person so dig up the songwriter’s “Live On KEXP” session and grab her latest effort on vinyl. It’s seriously one of the year’s best.
