Having been personal fans of TENNIS since they released “Baltimore” and “South Carolina” in 2010, it’s been remarkable to see their catalog become a blissful piece of indie pop gold. Their general knack for songwriting is still intact (see “Bad Girls”), but the way Alaina Moore and Patrick Riley finesse melodies, layering, and various soulful bits is uncanny, and all of the above was on display at their recent stop in Toronto. Headlining the Virgin Mobile Mod Club on College St. (May 19th), the duo – along with a full backing band – sailed through their Ritual In Repeat and Young & Old LPs, hitting every note and riff with precision and charm. Their songs are resilient enough to be a part of every summer (in a Carole King/Bill Withers kind of way), but in-person, they always find a way to melt every inch of your heart. Photographer Hannah Jor was at the gig and her live stills are above.

Tennis’ latest full-length album Ritual In Repeat is out now via Communion; a full list of tour dates can be found at their official website
