The city of New York has left its mark with CMJ, Northside, and Electric Zoo, but GOVERNORS BALL is the future. The festival has become the outdoor weekender for Big Apple residents and it’s still enforcing a passion for creating an experience that lingers with you for 365 days. It’s also an event that’s hard to put on pause as Gov Ball NYC, now in its fifth year, fought off the rain clouds and stage mishaps (get well Slim Jimmy) on Friday (June 5th) to turn Randall’s Island Park inside out. In short, DRAKE’s “Legend” to “Legend” headliner barely eclipsed the rest of day’s lineup which saw the likes of BENJAMIN BOOKER, FUTURE, MØ, DEATH FROM ABOVE 1979, and FLORENCE + THE MACHINE going for it all in front of massive crowds.
