Without hesitation, BONNAROO dove into its weekend with the intent to seek and destroy. Saturday’s Roo festivities (on June 9th) showcased good eats, beer symposiums, and a whole lotta Bon Iver but it also kicked off its alligator shoes and “Flaired out” with one of the year’s most diverse festival lineups. For every radio headliner, there was a Stereogum-approved favourite that knocked it out of The Farm as Anderson .Paak, Kali Uchis, Billie Eilish, Jessie Reyez, Post Animal, and Moses Sumney (above) tumbled in and out of mini sets that hit like a rush of blood to the head. Their performances were a step up from being “the next best thing” as their melodies and open-heart dissections of emotions were amplified to the nth degree — proving festivals can find the Q2 success they’re looking for if they focus on curation. There was a lot to love and a lot to photograph so check out our photo recap below via Wendy Wei.
