WHY YOU’LL LIKE THEM: On the outside, the garage punk foursome look like a band ripped straight from the 1970s’. The moniker’s relevant (Heavy Cream was a Cream double album featuring 60s’ material) and their look is rather nostalgic, but the comparisons to feminine jam acts like The Donnas are quite premature. Heavy Cream are much more than that; the blend of rhythms spark The Ramones mixed with garage blues but the presence of their frontwoman resembles the chaos a certain Jemina Pearl (ex-Be Your Own Pet) use to wreak. Forget rebel-girl rock; like the band notes, they’re straight-up stonehenge punk.
