GOING LIVE: Guttermouth

GUTTERMOUTH, THE NEW THREAT, SKULLIANS
SNEAKY DEE’S, TORONTO / AUG. 23

A photographer always knows if a punk rock show is indeed a punk rock show. GUTTERMOUTH’s recent stop in Toronto at Sneaky Dee’s was without a doubt a punk show as singer Mark Adkins and the crowd detonated into a deranged frenzy with bodies flailing, drinks spilling and shouts tearing at the air above. With THE NEW THREAT and locals SKULLIANS supporting, the gig was actually one of the most surprising (and underrated) set of performances of the year – especially if you just happened to get kicked in chest or ribs during “Lipstick”.

I think this is kind of interesting… Here’s a photo I took at the same time that the above photographer took his shot. My shot was a longer exposure and his flash went off while mine was exposing, so it froze the action in the middle of my blurry motion trails. The same exact moment, caught from a different angle!
