Before the nearly sold-out show at Toronto’s Sound Academy, two people griped about the venue’s acoustics not being suitable for the night’s lineup. Boy, were they wrong. Near the end of their headlining tour, AUGUST BURNS RED – along with metalcore support TEXAS IN JULY and I, THE BREATHER – exploded inside the 3,000+ capacity locale, eliminating any doubt as each group pummeled listeners taking in the intricate, heavy madness that cascaded for a few hours. To duly note, there’s a reason the tour (named after an album) was called “Leveler”.
