Friday night = rock and roll. In it’s third day, North By Northeast flew off the top rope without remorse (we lost a few good cameras out there). In one part of Toronto, moody instrumentalists 2:54 and DIIV turned guitar sounds into works of art at Lee’s Palace whereas EIGHT AND A HALF, PURITY CONTROL and THE COPPERTONE let fans indulge in all sorts of local tunes that bounced off the space in front of them with ferocity. There was Wrongbar – which despite all the noise DZ DEATHRAYS, BASS DRUM OF DEATH and THE MEN we’re making in front of pushers and shovers – we didn’t manage to see a lens hit the floor. Props to METZ for their nearly flawless, body-flailing set.
