For some, Edgefest is like an old friend. They’re not around as often as you’d like but when you’re together it’s as though nothing has changed despite the distance apart. Even in it’s fifteenth year, the Toronto-based festival curated by 102.1 The Edge kept true to its focus on mixing main attractions (BILLY TALENT, YOUNG THE GIANT, SILVERSUN PICKUPS) with emerging talent bursting at the seams (YUKON BLONDE, THE APACHE RELAY) as every inch of Downsview Park was covered in sonic noise that didn’t overlap. Thankfully, the weekend storm spared attendees allowing a sea of bikinis, shirts/skins and Twister enthusiasts soak up guitar riffery and memories and walk home safely without any regrettable tattoos or a life-sized giant bong chasing after them as the moon came up.
