BLARE’s 5 BEST NEW ARTISTS (NOVEMBER 2012)

GIRLFIGHT

NOTES: With subtle associations to Pianos Become The Teeth and Every Time I Die, Pittsburgh’s Girlfight beat the exhausted form of punk with a volatile design that’s rabid to say the least. The group’s new six-track release cradles a raw side of amp-flipping melodic hardcore that through Dave Watt’s howl and vein-ripping paces, churn out minute-long assaults of structured noise bent on disassembling your nervous system. Their sound harkens back to older memories of post-hardcore, but with its speed it’s a welcome addition that’s not shy of being a bit savage.
