Going Live: SXSW 2013 (Day Four)

We joked about it before we left for the week long trip and it evidently became a reality: Rachael Ray’s Feedback party is one you don’t want to miss during SXSW. The annual event held its final day at the legendary Stubb’s, and because of a night full of neverending lines, pop-up mobs and being shunned by secret gigs (what gives MySpace?), it pretty much made our Saturday. EARL SWEATSHIRT put his brain-warping rhymes on display at the FADER Fort, and even Surfer Blood, Ducktails and Black Breath crawled under the skin of others, but it was alt hip hoppers MACKLEMORE & RYAN LEWIS who ended their week-long jaunt in style with joints off of 2012’s The Heist.

The duo’s set was far from polished, and with an overjoyed crowd and radio hits that even Europeans know, it didn’t need to be. Seattle got repped, “Thrift Shop” got spun, and before you knew it, Macklemore was over the barricade. If anyone needed a final memory of Austin, Texas (or an obvious cue to put the free beer/Sangria down) this was it.
