There’s the typical frontman and then there’s Matt Korvette. As PISSED JEANS’ vocalist showed last night at Lee’s Palace in Toronto, he’s one of the few that can go from being the quiet Todd Abernacle-type to slithering around a club stage like a rabid animal that’s dying to tear something apart with its bare hands. For the Allentown punks, that presence just works. Their late Tuesday night set with Toronto’s NEON WINDBREAKER bulged with intensity despite a thinned out crowd, and the screech of songs such as “Bathroom Laughter” and “Boring Girls” never felt stale. In fact, at its peaks, it truly proved noise can be a delightful thing if it scrapes your insides clean.
