In one fell swoop, Silver Lake’s LOCAL NATIVES reintroduced Hummingbird with an exceptional performance at Toronto’s Kool Haus this past Sunday (September 22nd). Compared to their north-of-the-border stopover in March, the four-piece’s headlining run felt less constricted and a lot more seamless as their setlist mixed their 2013 record with old highlights and even a cover of the Talking Heads’ “Warning Sign”. The Queens Quay spot certainly added a boost to their vocals – which never lose an ounce of vigor or honesty – and WILD NOTHING’s creative contribution was a welcome intro to the Natives and what one fan described as, “indie rock that doesn’t sound lifeless or dated”.
