Tired of this freezing death spell called winter? Warm yourself up with a house show. After opening for the Pixies at Toronto’s ageless Massey Hall (it’s a 2753-capacity theatre), L.A. dudes FIDLAR coasted on over to Queen West to clink beers with HSY and rip out a late night gig at Soybomb HQ. To put it eloquently: it kicked ass. A large mob invaded Soybomb and in no time at all with no room to spare, the house/DIY space – that’s technically a half pipe – became a breeding ground for larger-than-life memories. Toronto’s HSY erupted with their tranquilized sludge hits (dig into “Tartar Mouth” here) while FIDLAR’s set was crammed with crowd favs, invisible pull-ups, and enough sweat to destroy the polar vortex. We’re still sore so a big thanks goes out to the organizers – VICE, Pistonhead, and Mark Pesci – and to the talented Amanda Fotes who managed to snap all of the photos you see here.
