Even though they live on Relapse Records, have a made-for-LMN/Oxygen backstory, and call the influential city of Philadelphia home, NOTHING are a severely underrated band. Google could be blamed for that but their debut full-length Guilty Of Everything is a riveting piece of work. It constantly finds a way to introduce you to overlooked turns and chord changes, and footnotes decades of heavy alternative – sort of like if Whirr, Slowdive, Ride, and Silverchair bro’d out in the woods for a weekend. Nothing themselves made an appearance at Toronto’s Adelaide Hall over the weekend and though they would have been better suited next to artists such as No Joy or Cheatahs, they managed to lay down one of the year’s best live sets. As our photographer Julia Marcello put it: “They were so sick, oh man”.
