On paper, a tour featuring MANCHESTER ORCHESTRA, BALANCE AND COMPOSURE, and KEVIN DEVINE sounds incredible. In-person, it really does surpass everything else for at least one night. All of the above acts have released overlooked yet brilliant LPs in the past eight months – from MO’s Cope to KD’s Bulldozer and Bubblegum combo to our Top Album Of 2013, B&C’s The Things We Think We’re Missing – and watching them transfer their new material to a concert hall reels in that unique feeling of listening to a remarkable record for the first time. As you can probably already tell, the trio’s quick stop at The Opera House in Toronto (May 19th) was one for the highlight reel as a sold-out crowd blended in with expansive sets (no spoilers here) to stir up a little bit of grit, heartache, and magic.
