From 2008 to 2010, TIME Festival was an annual summer affair in Toronto and one that provided a unique platform for Crystal Castles, A-Trak, Flosstradamus, and a handful of underground acts. Despite being defunct for nearly half a decade, the electro-studded festival returned on Saturday (July 19th) to let beats fly at Fort York Garrison Common. A few last minute dropouts (Death Grips, Charli XCX) and a cloudy day intervened but the folks at Embrace Presents aced their task of assembling a diverse lineup full of kaleidoscopic indie pop (LOWELL, HAERTS), R&B-splattered DJ sets (KAYTRANADA, SANGO), and a trio of mini-headliners (ACTION BRONSON, FLUME, GRIMES) that rocked wit it in their own way. Every act nailed every note and that in itself traces a pretty bright future for TIME.
