Photos: Madeon at Danforth Music Hall

Let’s be honest: MADEON is the future of electro pop. Since the release of his debut in March, the 20-year-old French DJ/producer has scored a #1 on Billboard, garnered comparisons to Daft Punk, and been commended for his meticulous sense of creativity that rarely uses the same sounds. The latter is a trait that carries over to his live setup and it’s a plus as Hugo Pierre Leclercq’s headliner at Toronto’s Danforth Music Hall (May 8th) was audibly intoxicating. In just a little over an hour, he put Adventure on display – blasting through “OK”, “Home”, and “You’re On” while eliciting a polychromatic dance party that’s more Justice than Mad Decent. The feels were through the roof – especially for those who grew up on songs like “One More Time” – and with a massive house-heavy jolt, it provided a glimpse of Madeon’s limitless potential.
