Tired of reality? Go to a CEREMONY show. The California punk vets have always put on gigs that live by the motto “If it’s loud, then it’s probably good for you” and their recent trip to The Garrison (July 4th) was no different. The set itself leaned more towards The L-Shaped Man – the quintet’s underrated, “alternate universe” album that’s currently out on Matador – but it balanced itself out with shavings of Zoo, Violence Violence, and Rohnert Park. There was also a lot of sweat and yelling (naturally) and even though Tony Molina had to cancel, Ann Arbor’s PITY SEX opened and wounded with a punchy dose of alt rock (grab Feast Of Love now). Photographer Amanda Fotes was there and her live gallery can be found above.
