Photos: UMO, Makeness at The Danforth Music Hall

With Sex & Food already out in the universe, UNKNOWN MORTAL ORCHESTRA hit Toronto’s Danforth Music Hall earlier this week (on May 2nd) for a spring fling that reached new heights. Kyle Molleson, aka MAKENESS, opened with his own mesmerizing depiction of Loud Patterns while Ruban Nielson and co. grooved out — rummaging through “Ffunny Ffrends”, “Swim And Sleep (Like A Shark)”, and a selection of newer space-rock numbers. Their 18-song set featured balcony riffs and heady lo-fi visuals but seeing them kick up “Multi-Love” and Ragnarok their way into a five-tier finisher that included “Hunnybee” and “Can’t Keep Checking My Phone” is bananas. If you missed it, peep our photos above (via Troy Black).
