Falling somewhere in the vicinity of Sade’s Stronger Than Pride and Tribe’s Low End Theory, AMBER MARK’s sold-out headliner at Toronto’s Drake Hotel (May 12th) was a thesis on what it means to be an artist. The concert itself opened with Atlanta’s DEMO TAPED going all the way in, but it found the 24-year-old addressing her thoughts and insecurities head on — spinning through “Heatwave”, “Way Back”, “Love Me Right”, and every single feeling found in every single lyric. It was soulful, inspirational, and on an entirely different level, but it was also a thrilling reminder of how far Amber’s come since uploading “S P A C E” to her Soundcloud account.
