NOTES: The state of Kentucky is truly a den for blues music and following the likes of My Morning Jacket and Cage The Elephant is Americana twang rockers Houndmouth. Led by vocalists Matt Myers and Katie Toupin, the Louisville four-piece recreate echoes of classic rock while sipping stiff glasses of whiskey and letting their emotions fall out of their mouth like Music From Big Pink. Their arrangements are crisp, their guitars fight off heartache and when the instruments fall into each other, the tenderness – like the tune “Palmyra” – is deafening.
