Photos: Miguel at Sound Academy

Even with the “apples and oranges” debate, MIGUEL is very much in a league of his own. The modern R&B/pop auteur recently put his own spin on a Tuesday with his headliner at Toronto’s Sound Academy (August 11th) and it was everything a die hard fan could ask for. Bright lights? Check. Sensual vibes? Check. A little bit of sweat and skin to go along with a seductive playlist? Call it a “Highlight Of The Night”. While it can be a difficult test for any lead to command an audience for 10-plus songs, Miguel had fun with it – casually strolling through Wildheart and Kaleidoscope Dream only to one-up each four-minute escape with another that’s way more electric. The show actually felt a bit too theatrical at times, but it made sense during the likes of “Do You…” and “Coffee” as a Miguel set is a far cry from a quickie. Photographer Hannah Jor was on-site so check out her gallery above.

Miguel’s third studio album Wildheart is out now via Sony/RCA Records; for similar shows, make sure to visit LiveNation.com
