In all fairness, anyone that still claims “punk rock is dead” deserves a slap to the face. As 2011 and THE FEST FL (FEST 10) shows, the genre hasn’t been on life support for quite some time; it’s just been building momentum to explode on the radio once again. Known for being a predominantly punk rock festival that also showcases post-hardcore and alternative pop, Fest 10 is taking over Gainesville, Florida, yet again with an extraordinary lineup that makes some wish Vans Warped Tour had a bit more grit and was a tad similar. A long look at this year’s festival shows a few major names – Hot Water Music, Bouncing Souls, Against Me!, Lifetime – but if you dig deeper (see below) there are a lot of new faces out there to fall for.
