To the casual Toronto scenester, ODONIS ODONIS have always been synonymous with bands such as PUP and Teenanger but it’s becoming difficult to sleep on them due to their Pitchfork fame and Hard Boiled Soft Boiled LP. That being said, their NXNE set at The Garrison exceeded expectations and in its own way. There was support from Edmonton vet CALVIN LOVE and Brooklyn’s HUNTERS who punked out with their noise-spattered junk out, but the trio shut off the stage lights, forcing their crowd to stare off into the shadows while they strummed and flailed through a groovy punch-up of songs. It wasn’t a reflection of the old yet to be honest, “New Obsession” is divine.
