Continuing where Friday left off, RIOT FEST CHICAGO decided to do what they do best: which is to get a little punk on the weekend. The festival’s opening day at Douglas Park was an eclectic mix of metal, new wave, and Post Malone, but Saturday (September 12th) flipped the script, showcasing the likes of IGGY POP, RANCID, DRIVE LIKE JEHU, LIFETIME, DESAPARECIDOS, MILLENCOLIN, JOYCE MANOR, FIDLAR, AMERICAN NIGHTMARE, and SWERVEDRIVER. ALEXISONFIRE nailed their set with a 11-song thrashing that Chicago has wanted for so long, but hardcore vets MODERN LIFE IS WAR stole the show with a 8:00 p.m. one-off that started with “The Outsiders” and didn’t stop until “By The Sea”. We’re still reeling from it all but luckily our photographer Joel Pilotte was there for the entire day. Check out his live photo gallery above.
