Believe it or not, the Rocky And Tyler Tour is an event you don’t want to miss. A$AP ROCKY and TYLER, THE CREATOR’s stop at Toronto’s Echo Beach (September 25th) was full of selfies, Sprite, and Supreme, but it also wound up being a stylistic, no filler rap show. VINCE STAPLES charged through Summertime ’06 (see “Norf Norf”, “Señorita”); DANNY BROWN set the sound system off with “Attak” and “Dope Song”; Tyler and co. crashed into Cherry Bomb and a few faves (“IFHY”, “Yonkers”), and towards the end, Lorde Flacko flashed his smile and put At.Long.Last.A$AP on blast only to counter the city’s curfew with “Wild For The Night”. The foursome had their own minor setbacks, but it’s a bit difficult to undermine their ability to set up shop and redefine what it actually means to be a “performer”. Photographer Steve St. Jean was there and his live stills can be found above.
