Photos: Savages at Danforth Music Hall

Do yourself a favor and buy a ticket to one of SAVAGESupcoming shows. The quartet’s brand of posh, “fuck you” post-punk isn’t for everyone but it’s absolutely worth seeing in a live setting as their recent gig at Toronto’s Danforth Music Hall (April 4th) felt like an artful punch to the mouth. Their 18-song set swerved through Adore Life and Silence Yourself, and it did so with a barrage of bass waves, drum smacks, and distorted swells that either escalated or flirted with romantic interludes. That statement might sound like complete gibberish, but the band’s chemistry is kind of hard to avoid — especially when a song like “The Answer” comes on and the only thing you can feel is the tempo.
