There are rap collectives and then there’s BROCKHAMPTON. Kevin Abstract’s L.A.-via-Texas “boy band” has owned a large chunk of 2017 thanks to their arts-friendly, pro-KanyeToThe persona and their recent trek up north was proof of that. The group’s sold-out headliner at Toronto’s Danforth Music Hall (Sep. 10th) tapped into its own vibe — funneling their lo-fi aesthetic into a dimly lit session that cracked every corner of their Saturation series. They cruised through Internet faves (“SWAMP”, “GUMMY”) and underrated trips (“TOKYO”, “JUNKY”), and stirred up a bunch of “you had to be there” moments that set the precedent for tours for the rest of the year. It was a DIY triumph so check out our photo gallery above (via Maggie Elizabeth).
