There is an art to performing live. New age hip-hop doers AMINÉ and TOWKIO played Toronto’s Opera House theatre this week (October 16th) and despite their tour run being an “all gas, no breaks” campaign for Good For You, the stopover wound up being an illustration of two musicians that are locked in. Towkio spent much of his set being his uplifting self — deconstructing the concepts of “word-play” with “Swim” being a clear highlight — and Aminé held his own, skrrting through smashes such as “Caroline”, “REDMERCEDES”, “Heebiejeebies”, and “Spice Girl”. The crowd, energy, vibe, and overall love for a good time out was incomparable and together, it reinforced their Jordan–level ability to play both chess and checkers while making Monday nights fun again.
